Project description

Following the non-profitability of the existing structure, it is planned to create new mooring places for boaters at the marina located at the bottom of Opunohu Bay, on the island of Moorea (associated municipality of Papetoai). These developments will take the form of a new 70m long floating pontoon that will be able to accommodate a total of 30 additional vessels. This solution was discussed in order to limit the visual impact of boats in the bay, but also to facilitate the construction of wastewater and waste management infrastructure.

In accordance with the regulations in force, a preliminary impact study is required for the development of marinas as soon as they include between 10 and 80 berths. In order to carry out this study, scuba dives were carried out to carry out benthic transects within the marina cove. Physico-chemical measurements of surface water using a manual probe and the collection of water samples were also carried out at various pre-defined locations to cover the entire perimeter concerned. Finally, bibliographic research was undertaken in order to be able to propose a synthesis of knowledge and compensatory measures following the results obtained.

Role of Marepolis

Marepolis is responsible for carrying out field operations, including scuba diving, certain laboratory analyses including bacteriology, the drafting of the final impact notice and the financial management of the project.
