In March 2019, the French Office for Biodiversity and the Gulf of Lion Marine Natural Park launched a call for projects to financially support actions implemented between 2019 and 2022 concerning 3 themes, including the development of knowledge of the socio-cultural and natural environments. The project proposed by MarePolis is one of the 10 winners. This project proposes to fill the knowledge gap about spearfishing. The profile, habits of these users as well as their perceptions of the evolution and management of the marine resource within the Golf du Lyon Marine Natural Park will be drawn up. The cultural values conveyed by this use will also be identified. The monitoring of species relating to the wolf, the capon, as well as other species of fish, calls on the observations/captures of spearfishermen in order to provide additional information on the population of these species within the Marine Natural Park of the Gulf of Lyon. The fishing effort of this practice will also be evaluated.
