Marine Conservation Awareness and Coral Cuttings Workshop for Hotel Staff
Raising awareness among the general public about the protection and restoration of reef habitats is a key step in the success and legitimization of marine conservation actions. Through partnerships with the private sector, many trades can be approached. As the tourism sector represents the main economy of French Polynesia, a rapprochement with locally present hotel structures such as the establishments of the Intercontinental group, is part of an essential logic of knowledge sharing. These participatory workshops are aimed not only at hotel staff, who are a real relay of information to their customers, but also directly at the latter in order to better perceive the threats to coral reefs in island environments and the possible levers for action.
Marepolis provides a popularized conference open to all types of public and is in charge of practical activities including the selection of coral cuttings and their installation on submerged supports serving as aquatic nurseries
