Animation and environmental awareness in support of local associations on the island of Moorea
In 2025, the Veia Rai association organized the first edition of the Whale Festival – Tohorā Parāoa. Open to schools and the general public, the event highlighted the cetaceans visible in Polynesian waters for three consecutive days, as well as environmental issues (coral bleaching, proliferation of coral predators, human and natural threats to the reefs). This is done through animated stands (visual presentations, manipulation of scientific objects), recreational activities (drawing competition) and introduction to traditional arts (weaving).
Marepolis provided scientific mediation through a stand presenting professional devices (probes, transects, syringe guns for the fight against Acanthaster planci) aimed at regulating predatory coral populations, assessing coral cover and understanding trophic relationships existing within Polynesian reefs.
Veia Rai Festival – from 02 to 04 June 2025
