St Nazaire – May 2017 Visit of the Floatgen site: future floating wind demonstrator

On 30 May in St Nazaire (Loire Atlantique), Bertrand CAZALET took part in a visit to the “Floatgen” shipyard, a future floating wind demonstrator that will be installed off the coast of Le Croisic by the end of 2017. Floatgen will be operated for 2 years (2018-2019) and is part of the EOLMED project off the coast of Gruissan/Port la Nouvelle led by the company QUADRAN Energies Libres. Marepolis was part of a delegation of about 15 people invited by the company QUADRAN to come and discover this extraordinary and particularly innovative site. The most advanced techniques and technologies of the off-shore industry are used for the manufacture, assembly, installation and voltage of the first floating wind turbine which will be installed in French waters in the autumn. The richness of French skills and know-how is expressed through the diversity of “Floatgen” components, mainly manufactured in France and assembled in the port of St Nazaire. A day rich in information and particularly didactic explanations provided by the guides of BOUYGUES and QUADRAN.
