Paris – April 2017 Paris Sciences et Lettres workshop on floating offshore wind turbines

Organised by Paris Sciences et Lettres Université, Marepolis took part in the workshop “Floating wind turbines at sea, new challenges” which was held in Paris, at the Maison des Océans, on 19 April 2017. This workshop focused on the EOLMED project located off the coast of Gruissan, in the Occitanie region and led by the company QUADRAN Energies Libres based in Béziers. EOLMED is one of the four winners of the “Floating Wind Pilot Farms” call for projects launched by ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency) in 2015. This workshop allowed all the speakers to present and discuss the multiple challenges generated by the EOLMED project: technological, scientific, socio-economic, maritime spatial planning, educational, participatory and prospective challenges. The presentations and discussions highlighted all the challenges of this project and its desire to integrate into the coastal and marine policies of the Gulf of Lion. During this day, MAREPOLIS presented two presentations on the legal aspects of the concession and its prospects for co-activity (Bertrand CAZALET), as well as on the issues of evaluating natural biomass production within the concession and the potential for economic development induced (Serge PLANES).
