Marepolis participated in the4th International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC 4) held in La Serena, Chile, from 4 to 8 September 2017. The IMPAC congress is the congress of marine managers which brings together all maritime stakeholders every 4 years to work on the protection of marine biodiversity and the sustainable development of activities. Rita SAHYOUN participated in the round table “Small-scale fisheries and marine protected areas: best practices and opportunities for income and food security” moderated by Giuseppe Di Carlo of WWF MEDPO. Rita SAHYOUN also participated in the round table on integral reserves moderated by Marie Romani MedPAN. The objective of this exchange was to identify the main arguments that MPA managers can use to convince stakeholders and decision-makers of the benefits of fully protected areas.
